The physicians and staff of UCPA are committed to providing our patients with safe and effective urologic care. During this time of national emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic we continue to be thoughtful in our clinical decisions when meeting the clinical care needs of our patients.
We are understanding of the unique needs of each individual patient and count on our patients to be active participants in their care.
Using guidance from the American Urologic Association (AUA), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the Pennsylvania Department of Health and other authorities, we want to address your care needs while balancing those needs with the risk of COVID-19 exposure. When considering your urologic healthcare needs you will be part of the medical decision-making process so that together a decision as to how best to meet your urologic needs during this time of crisis can best be managed. Discussions about potential benefits, risks, alternatives and risks to alternatives, will include the potential risk of COVID-19 exposure. For some patients, the discussion of managing care and treatment will require active participation by hospitals, diagnostic facilities, pharmacies, and medical care professionals in various fields of practice. That extended input will be welcomed, and we will also need to abide by any measures those facilities may have put into place in response to the pandemic. All healthcare providers are united in the common goal of safety for our patients, healthcare providers, and the communities we serve.
We will continue to follow recommendations, guidance and direction set forth by those agencies and organizations previously mentioned and adjust our approach to patient care as needed. We, like you, are navigating through this extraordinary time. Please be assured that we remain committed to the health of our patients and the communities we serve.
